The Mercury Retrograde Experiment

September 24, 2015

Okay, I know it’s risky to do most anything during a Mercury Retrograde. But, today, I’m following a guidance deep within. What will happen next, I’ve decided, is up to me.

I have always approached my spiritual/astrological/mystical studies with a healthy dose of skepticism.

So when I finished my website and was about to launch it, I paused. After all, it is—cue dramatic music—during Mercury Retrograde.

For those unfamiliar with this term, Mercury Retrograde is an astrological period in which the planet appears to stop and move backwards. It is an optical illusion, but most astrologers warn against signing anything or making any major purchases (cars, computers, etc.). I have certainly had my own Mercury Retrograde experiences in which computers have broken down, website forms have gone haywire or phones have frozen.

However, it’s not all bad. According to Molly Hall, “While delays and misunderstandings do seem to happen, I’ve noticed a magical trend—that people and ideas return, for integration, resolution and more.”

Ms. Hall’s words really resonate with me right now. So, I’ve decided to launch my website.

Going Light: Making Sense of the Nonsensical

September 11, 2015

Today, I’m “Going Light.” To find out why, you can read my blog post on GuerrillaHealing. You can read why here. See u tomorrow! Love to everyone #GoingLight http://wp.me/p6Hku7-6 via @wordpressdotcom

Peace, Healing, Love, Kindness

In the the theater world, if a theater is not in use for a period of time, it is called, “Going Dark.”

Today, on the anniversary of attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City on 9/11, I (and therefore all my social media pages) will “Go Light.”

It is fitting that I begin my  new blog, GuerrillaHealing, with a post like this. After all, much of life involves events that we cannot control and I have found that locating that which I seek within myself contains the greatest concentration of peace, healing, love, kindness, support. I am dedicated to my search and sharing it with others.

Going Light does not mean I have forgotten or glossed over what happens or happened. It means that I am no longer beholden or tethered to fear. I choose to center myself in peace, to not listen to, read or watch rehashing of…

MOA, A Young Adult Sci-Fi Mystical Adventure Series, Sweeps Literary Awards

March 11, 2015

IMG_0008Fresh off of IRON SHINTO’s, Book 3 in the Moa Series, win at the DIY Book Festival, the Moa Series strikes again pulling in two more awards.

The Moa Series is a Young Adult Sci-Fi Mystical Adventure Series by author Tricia Stewart Shiu. Book 1, MOA, has been named Runner Up and Book 2, STATUE OF KU, has been given an Honorable Mention in the Spiritual Category at the Pacific Rim Book Festival.

Last year, Kindle readers spoke loud and clear and made MOA the #1 Metaphysical and Visionary Fiction ebook on Amazon. STATUE OF KU also earned the #1 spot for Metaphysical & Visionary in January 2014. The third book in the series, IRON SHINTO, was awarded Best Young Adult Novel at the DIY Festival in March 2015. All three books chronicle a fanciful flight through time and space in a multi-dimensional universe of interplanetary spirits.

With a growing fan-base of over 30k Followers on Twitter, @MoaBookSeries fans are giving rave reviews including this one from LoriLu who said: “Just finished reading Moa and LOVED it! Gonna move on to Statue of Ku, can’t wait to dive in. So proud of you!”

“Shiu has stepped into territory that few contemporary writers of novels have journeyed – concepts of many permutations of the spirit world as experienced and acted out by contemporary characters. MOA is not only immensely entertaining as a story, but also illuminating as to the concepts of the levels of existence that bond the corporeal world with the spirit world.”

–Grady Harp, Amazon Top 50 Hall of Fame Reviewer

Iron Shinto has earned numerous awards and honors at several national and international book festivals and was recently awarded a Mom’s Choice Award, an ‘Honorable Mention’ in the London and New York Book Festivals in the Young Adult category and ‘Runner Up’ at the renowned Beach Book Festival. The book was also ‘Runner Up’ at The Great Southeast Book Festival, ‘Honorable Mention’ in the San Francisco, Southern California and Los Angeles Book Festivals in the Young Adult category and in Portland Oregon’s Great Northwest Book Festival. All three books in the series chronicle a fanciful flight through time and space in a multi-dimensional universe of interplanetary spirits.

Sydney Shiu, Shiu’s ten-year-old daughter, illustrated and took the cover photos for all three books.

Each stand-alone book follows eighteen-year-old Hillary Hause, her sister, Molly, and niece, Heidi, as they aid a narrator/spirit in solving a mystery and saving an ancient land from obliteration. Through these books, the group unearths forgotten metaphysical gifts from within, heals past relationships and discovers the secret to immortality.

A ritual begins each chapter and leads the reader deeper into the adventure as it unfolds.

The series moves between the physical and metaphysical worlds, as well as present day and ancient civilization. “Moa” takes place in Hawaii, “Statue of Ku” in Egypt and “Iron Shinto” in Japan. Details and daily life experiences enrich true to life stories and legends. Mortals remember immortality and immortals become human.

The lessons learned go beyond the physical world and illustrate that spirits must unravel mysteries, too, and that humans are can possess powers far beyond the spirit world.

In 2013 Shiu completed a successful Kickstarter campaign which helped raise funds for the costs of editing, publishing and publicity for “Iron Shinto,” as well as the audio books for all three books in the Moa series. “The series is designed to appeal to the fans of Young Adult, Metaphysical Fantasy Fiction and others who just love books,” says Shiu.

Of the many FIVE STAR reviews of Iron Shinto one is by an Amazon Hall of Fame (Top 50) Reviewer Grady Harp who writes:

‘What exactly is real? Your thoughts make whatever you perceive to be real. Beyond that, what exists?’ Tricia Stewart Shiu has stepped into territory that few contemporary writers of novels have journeyed – concepts of many permutations of the spirit world as experienced and acted out by contemporary characters. Reading Shiu’s book IRON SHINTO (the third volume of her series of books entitled The Moa Books) is not only immensely entertaining as a story, but also illuminating as to the concepts of the levels of existence that bond the corporeal world with the spirit world.

Each chapter opens with a ritual that the reader can actually follow and perform, moments of enlightenment that heighten the meaning of the novel but also serve to open the reader’s mind to the seemingly endless possibilities of realms of existence – call it reincarnation or alternative levels of being or whatever connects the reader with a willingness to think along different lines. Though Shiu writes her books for a Teen or Young Adult audience, her commitment to expand the mind is so well centered that her audience could comfortably and satisfyingly include adult readers, especially those curious about universal levels of being. –Grady Harp, Amazon Hall of Fame Reviewer

As one reviewer said: ????? “An Incredible Journey Into The Spiritual World By A Gifted Author!” MOA (Moa Series, Book 1) http://tinyurl.com/ovwj74h ?#IARTG ?#ASMSG

Another reviewer said, “Dramatic Twisted! I’m left with a WONDERFUL Book Hangover!”

In addition to being an award-winning author, Ms. Shiu is also a metaphysical adept who actually met Moa, the ancient Hawaiian spirit at the heart of the series. “When I was five,” Ms. Shiu explained, “I was visited by a vision. I’ll never forget it, I was running down the stairs and the entity, a girl with dark hair, stopped me in my tracks. The spirit said that I would go through a deeply challenging time in my life, but would resurface, later in life, with unimaginable joy and fulfillment. That vision stayed with me.”

Many years later, taking a nap during a visit to her husband’s family home in Honolulu, that dark-haired girl came back. “In my mind’s eye, I saw a beautiful young woman with dark hair, who said her name was Moaahuulikkiaaakea’o Haanaapeekuluueehuehakipuunahe’e—Moa for short.”

Ms. Shiu’s experience with this benevolent spirit launched her into a personal journey of spiritual exploration which included studies in mediumship, pagan and Huna rituals as well as energy healing. She also studied a variety of shamanic clearing methods and healing rituals.

The result of the author’s unique background is that each chapter of the book begins with a meditative ritual that pertains to that chapter. Some of the rituals, oils or meditations are even mentioned in the plot of the book. All of these powerful rituals are easily done by the reader and have remarkably soothing and healing properties.

The author sums it all up this way; “Whatever your belief or understanding of the metaphysical world, I believe that if one person is transformed through learning, then we are all transformed. I truly believe the Moa I met came through in this work and, just as I connected with her as I wrote, those who read the book will experience her as well.”
